holiday in Germany

My earliest memory of Jerry is snogging with my sister in the bus shelter on Blackburn Boulevard waiting for the bus to go back to Clitheroe, they went dancing at King George's after a visit to the pub nearby!

1982 Brenda, Jerry and boys were camping near Strasbourg and we (Ray, two of our three children and I) had rented a small house for 2 weeks near Karlsruhe. They came to join us and we crammed into the house. One evening Jerry and Ray went to the neighbours carrying a bottle of cheap wine and introduced themselves. Brenda and I cleaned up after dinner and got the 5 children ready for bed, then went to find our husbands! They were all sitting outside with a lot of wine bottles on the picnic table, Jerry was speaking fluent German in his inebriated state, Ray was struggling with his German and the locals were having a great time with the Brit and the Yank!!! There was a little suffering the next day.

1995-ish Brenda and Jerry came to visit us in the northern suburbs of Chicago and we decided to fly to Colorado and tour the state. We rented a car and off we went! In Durango Ray checked out white water rafting on the Athabasca River where the Olympic teams practice, next thing we know we're boarding inflatable rafts and off we go down the river with our guide. Brenda and Jerry laughing and screaming, me hanging on for dear life. What an adventure. Another memory is visiting the Mesa Verde National Park where the cave dwellings of the Anasazi Indians had lived, very fascinating! The whole visit with us was an adventure at every turn - wicked Midwest thunderstorms to whitewater rafting to the Rockies! Wonderful memories.

There were travels after Brenda's passing, memories of Carcassone, France with Jerry and Helene as well as Nick's memorable wedding in Thailand!
